The alias of British DJ Alexis ‘Lex’ Blackmore, whose Remember Me hit number 8 on the UK singles chart in February 1997 and held the Top 20 for eight weeks — certified silver the day it entered. The hook is Marlena Shaw calling out from her 1973 Montreux performance of Woman Of The Ghetto, cut on Blue Note; the record carried a Blue Note sample into the mainstream and became one of the decade’s defining crossover house tracks.
