Lawrence is Peter M. Kersten, a Hamburg producer and DJ whose deep, melodic, dub-tinged house and electronica draws on classic Chicago and Detroit traditions softened with a wistful melancholy. He co-founded the influential Dial Records (with Carsten Jost and Turner) and the Hamburg label and record shop Smallville, helping launch artists such as Pantha du Prince, Efdemin and John Roberts.
