Space-themed Detroit techno issued through Underground Resistance’s Red Planet sublabel, every record on it the work of The Martian — credited to Will Thomas, with Mad Mike Banks long suspected of a hand in them and nothing ever confirmed. Funk, jazz and indigenous rhythm run under the machines, from the 1992 debut Meet The Red Planet through to 2005. The masks and pseudonyms were the point: UR kept names off the records so the music was all there was.
